POSITION OVERVIEW
The Vice-President of Strategic Partnerships will be a key member of the leadership team, responsible for designing and successfully implementing revenue generation strategies to support the organization's mission. This role requires an experienced and dynamic leader who can effectively lead corporate fundraising and strategic partnerships, grant writing, major giving, individual giving, and board engagement activities.
LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES
The Vice-President is responsible for managing comprehensive fundraising efforts including, potentially, a small team of 1 or 2 people. The candidate should have experience building and managing successful development efforts including institutional giving, corporate giving, structuring partnerships, major giving, grant and foundation giving and relationship management.
CORE DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Fundraising Strategy and Leadership
- Develop and execute a 3-year comprehensive advancement strategy that aligns fundraising and partnership initiatives to drive revenue, enhance organizational brand visibility, and diversify funding streams.
- Implement creative fundraising campaigns, events, and activities that leverage marketing tactics and technology (including digital fundraising and e-commerce best practices) to maximize donor engagement and support
- Lead the planning and implementation of successful development programs including corporate partnerships, grants including public and private institutions, foundation gifts, major gifts, and individual giving.
- Collaborate with the CEO, senior leadership and Board of Directors to align fundraising strategies with organizational goals.
- Establish development department metrics and key measurement dashboard.
- Implement effective stewardship and recognition programs to cultivate and renew lasting relationships
- Ensure all relevant development policies and procedures are in place, including Board and committee level policies.
Corporate Fundraising and Strategic Partnerships
- Identify, cultivate, and secure corporate sponsorships and partnerships.
- Develop and manage relationships with corporate donors to ensure long-term engagement and support.
- Create compelling proposals and presentations for corporate partners.
- Attend events, meetings and conferences to solicit donations or sponsorships and / or promote organizational goals.
- Ensure best practice stewardship plan is developed and executed including development of a giving society.
Grant Writing and Relationship Management
- Research and identify grant opportunities from foundations, government agencies, and other sources.
- Write, submit, and manage grant applications, ensuring compliance with all requirements.
- Maintain relationships with grant-making organizations and provide regular updates on project progress and outcomes.
Major and Individual Giving
- Design and implement strategies to identify, cultivate, and solicit major gifts from individuals.
- Build and maintain relationships with major donors, ensuring personalized and meaningful engagement.
- Develop and oversee individual giving campaigns, including annual appeals and planned giving programs.
Board Engagement
- Work closely with the Board of Directors to leverage their networks and support fundraising efforts.
- Engage Board members in fundraising activities and provide them with the necessary tools, resources and training.
- Provide regular updates to the Board on fundraising progress and initiatives.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Strategic thinking and planning.

- Demonstrated excellence in strategic and relationship management
- Proven success in annually raising a minimum of $10 million per fiscal year AND, demonstrated track record identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding multiple major gifts in the six-and-seven-figure range annually.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Closely aligns with senior leadership, CEO specifically, as a thought partner in philanthropic efforts.
- High level of integrity and professionalism.
- Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in fundraising and corporate business development.
- Experience across multiple revenue streams including individual giving, major gifts, corporate partnerships, foundations, and/or government grants.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement successful fundraising strategies.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Deep understanding of impact and venture philanthropy.
- Prior proven experience in growing an organization in a startup, action-oriented mentality.
- Experience working with Boards of Directors and engaging them in fundraising activities.
- Proficiency in donor management systems, CRM software, and marketing analytics tools.
- Non-profit and/or life sciences experience strongly preferred
- Understanding and experience in building direct response program.
- Ability to travel up to 50%
